10 basic mistakes when looking for a job

1. Now there is no work anywhere - a difficult situation in the country

There are always many more opportunities on the labor market than it seems. Negative examples of friends and acquaintances are not the final verdict until you yourself have tried to find a job following the universal tips for finding a job. Employers at all times want to run their business efficiently and at the lowest cost - this cannot be done without good staff.

Good staff is always needed - and you are a good employee!
2. Now is not a good time to search - vacation

Personnel shifts, especially in large companies, are ongoing - employees are transferred, promoted, fired. And if during the pre-holiday time the labor market activity is slightly reduced, you can always devote this time to collecting information, finding the right people, and making preliminary arrangements for future meetings immediately after the holidays.

Every holiday comes with harsh weekdays - managers who plan the work of their units understand this very well.
3. The more addresses I send a resume, the higher my chances

As a rule, this is not entirely true if you really decided to find a decent job, and not a temporary "refuge". Nowadays, employers value the jobseekers who know exactly in which company and in what position they want to work. The fact that you want to work in a particular company must be indicated in the cover letter, even if it is not required by the employer.

Focus on the essentials - quality is more important than quantity!
4. A more qualified and experienced employee will get the job, not me

The real situation is somewhat different. Usually a candidate who is more suitable for a particular position at a given time is selected. Employers create effective teams, within which there should be maximum communication and support. If you see a complete understanding of this process in you, the chances will greatly increase.

Be optimistic, friendly and sociable - and be sure to succeed!
5. You can get a good job only by acquaintance

Of course, some companies are still being built on the "family principle" - to take only their own. But globally in the labor market, such an approach is already a thing of the past, because you cannot build a systemic and efficient business only with relatives. Now more valued are the professional qualities and degree of responsibility of the candidates. In many companies, friends and relatives are even prohibited from hiring.

Prove to your employer that you are better than others.
6. I'm too old for this post

Indeed, for certain positions in some companies there is an age framework. Basically, these are the most beginning positions in the company hierarchy - couriers, secretaries, administrators, reception. In the middle and top management of a company, as a rule, professionalism is not of special importance.

Reassure your employer that you are a professional.
7. I must constantly remind myself to the employer so that they don’t forget about me

Now the era of electronic communication has come - the Internet, e-mail, Skype, and many companies communicate with candidates exclusively through these channels. By sending a resume to the company’s email address and not receiving a response within a week, you can send it again. Calling is only necessary if you have agreed on this with the employer in advance.

Do not be annoying - always coordinate your actions in advance.
8. Mom with a small child for this position will never be accepted

Such a psychological barrier is indeed present among applicants and personnel departments. All employers want the employee to be fully committed to work throughout the working day. But if you really decided to devote yourself to a career, and the children have not grown up yet, you have one way: during the interview, convince the employer that you always have someone to insure (parents, nannies, spouse, etc.)

Be convincing - it all depends on you.
9. If they did not answer my letter immediately within a few days, then the work here "does not shine for me"

In serious companies, the process of selecting and hiring a new employee can take a lot of time - at least 2-3 weeks. Candidates can be selected in several stages and with the participation of more than one unit. An invitation to interview you may come later - the main thing is to wait for him.

Be patient.
10. I already sent a resume to this company - it should have remained with them

This is another erroneous opinion. As a rule, each competition is accompanied by a new wave of applications and no resume is kept for a long time. The only exception is the situation when you have already passed the interview, established personal contact with the employer and you are credited to the personnel reserve of the company. In this case, try to communicate regularly with your contact person regarding possible vacancies.
